Senior Winder Engine Driver

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a modern, fully mechanised operation. We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Senior Winder Engine Driver to lead our team of winder drivers, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient shaft operations.

Key responsibilities

• Train and certify personnel to obtain and maintain a winding engine driver’s certificate under LI2182 (Reg 450).
• Maintain the skills matrix and medical fitness records in line with LI2182 (Reg 451).
• Coordinate daily work schedules of winder drivers, monitor performance and report any deficiencies.
• Record all operations and ensure reporting compliance with LI2182 regulations (Reg 452‑458).
• Lead by example to create a safe working environment, conduct inspections, audits and Job Hazard Analyses.
• Investigate injuries, illnesses and incidents promptly, developing action plans to prevent recurrence.
• Oversee shaft maintenance data collection, ensuring zero reportable environmental incidents and compliance with the site’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Identify safety training needs and deliver required training.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating winding engines in underground mining.
• Strong knowledge of Ghanaian mining regulations (LI2182) and safety standards.
• Ability to lead, coach and develop a team of drivers.
• Excellent communication skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
