Senior Winder Engine Driver

About the role

AngloGold Ashanti is redeveloping the Obuasi Gold Mine into a fully mechanised underground operation. We are looking for an experienced, self‑motivated Senior Winder Engine Driver to lead the team that operates and maintains the winding engines critical to ore extraction.

Key responsibilities

• Train and certify personnel to obtain and retain a winding engine driver’s certificate of competency (LI2182 Reg 450).
• Maintain the skills matrix and medical fitness records (LI2182 Reg 451).
• Coordinate daily work of winder drivers, monitor performance, and report any deficiencies.
• Ensure all operational recording and reporting complies with LI2182 regulations (Reg 452‑458).
• Lead safety initiatives, conduct inspections, audits, JHAs and investigate incidents.
• Oversee shaft‑maintenance data collection and ensure compliance with statutory inspections and the site Environmental Management Plan.
• Drive continuous improvement using analysis tools and define clear roles for sub‑ordinates.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating winding engines in underground mining.
• Valid winding engine driver’s certificate of competency issued by the Chief Inspector of Mines.
• Medical fitness as required by mining regulations.
• Strong knowledge of LI2182 regulatory requirements.
• Leadership ability to train, coach and ensure a safe working environment.
