Senior Winder Engine Driver

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Winder Engine Driver to lead the winder team at our modernised Obuasi Gold Mine. The role ensures safe, compliant and efficient operation of the winding engines that transport personnel and material in the underground shaft.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate work schedules, training and performance monitoring of all winder drivers.
• Maintain and enforce compliance with Ghana mining regulation LI2182 (Reg 450‑458) and company safety policies.
• Oversee certification, medical fitness and skills matrix of winder personnel.
• Conduct inspections, audits, job‑hazard analyses and timely investigations of incidents.
• Monitor shaft maintenance activities, data collection and reporting for statutory inspections.
• Drive continuous improvement of safety and operational performance using analysis tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating winding engines in underground mining.
• Strong knowledge of LI2182 mining regulations and safety management systems.
• Ability to train and mentor staff, and to lead by example in a high‑risk environment.
• Excellent record of maintaining zero reportable environmental incidents and compliance breaches.
