Shift Engineer (Process)

About the role

The Shift Engineer (Process) will oversee the 24‑hour ethanol production plant, ensuring steady operation and product quality. The role involves supervising shift staff, coordinating with support departments and managing plant parameters.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and control plant operations through supervision of operational staff on each shift.
• Coordinate between unit sections to resolve problems and maintain optimum process parameters.
• Record raw material consumption and control chemical usage to minimise waste.
• Ensure a clean, hazard‑free work environment and report issues to management.
• Supervise maintenance activities, issue work permits and liaise with mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and utilities teams.
• Monitor product quality from raw material to finished goods in liaison with the QC laboratory.
• Plan and execute routine or annual shutdowns as required.

Required profile

• Minimum HND/Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Industrial safety certification (electrical, chemical or mechanical safety).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Required skills

• DCS and PLC operation.
• Reading and interpreting schematic drawings.
• Operation of pumps, cooling towers, boilers and distillation columns.
• Industrial safety knowledge.
