Site Engineer - Trunk Road Upgrade

About the role

The Site Engineer will lead on‑site activities for a trunk road upgrade in Tamale and the wider Northern Region of Ghana. Reporting to the Assistant Project Manager, you will ensure that all civil works meet design specifications while maintaining traffic flow and community safety.

Key responsibilities

• Set out and maintain survey control along the road alignment.
• Supervise earthworks, drainage, sub‑base, base and surface dressing.
• Oversee culvert and side‑drain construction, including lined drains, mitre and scupper drains, and erosion protection.
• Manage reinforced concrete works at river crossings, ensuring falsework, reinforcement, pours and curing are completed safely.
• Run testing regimes (density, CBR, moisture content, concrete cubes) and enforce quality standards.
• Control materials from borrow pits and quarries, handling sourcing, sampling, approval and haulage records.
• Maintain daily site records, measurement sheets, as‑built information and material receipts.
• Prepare technical queries, method statements and health‑and‑safety documentation for your sections.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of civil works experience, at least two years on road projects.
• Proven experience setting out road alignments, conducting compaction testing and producing defensible site records.
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology and Management, or a related field.
• Ability to communicate technical issues clearly and resolve defects on site.
• Valid driver’s licence and sound judgment for on‑site decision‑making.
