Team Leader – Regional Food Market Development Programme

About the role

The Team Leader will head a five‑year programme that supports production and trade of staple foods across Ghana, Burkina Faso, Nigeria and Niger. Based in Accra, the role combines programme management, financial oversight of a challenge fund, and policy advocacy to improve regional market systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation and monitoring of the programme’s two core components – the Challenge Fund and the Policy Facility.
• Coordinate with government agencies, development partners and private sector actors in the four target countries.
• Oversee budgeting, financial reporting and disbursement of funds to innovative agribusiness projects.
• Produce evidence‑based policy analyses and advocacy materials to support regulatory reforms.
• Manage a small multidisciplinary team and ensure timely delivery of results.
• Travel regularly to project sites in Burkina Faso, Niger and Nigeria.

Required profile

• Fluent in both French and English.
• Proven experience in agricultural development, market systems or trade policy in West Africa.
• Strong project‑management background, preferably with donor‑funded programmes.
• Ability to lead and motivate a diverse team.
