Dean, School of Performing Arts

About the role

The University of Ghana invites applications for the position of Dean of the School of Performing Arts within the College of Humanities. The Dean will lead the School, overseeing its three departments – Dance Studies, Theatre Arts and Music – and will be responsible for academic, research and administrative excellence starting 1 January 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and vision for the School of Performing Arts.
• Ensure delivery of approved programmes and coordinate teaching, research and extension activities.
• Manage human, financial and material resources in line with University policies.
• Promote interdisciplinary collaboration across the College of Humanities.
• Foster a collegial working environment and support staff development.
• Attract research funding and develop partnerships with external organisations.

Required profile

• Hold professorial status at an academic or research institution, or equivalent senior industry experience.
• Demonstrated academic leadership in teaching, research and community engagement within performing arts disciplines.
• Proven managerial and administrative experience with capacity to lead a multi‑department school.
• Track record of securing research or development funding.
• Visionary mindset to drive growth and development of the School.
