Deputy Director – Infrastructure, IT Directorate

About the role

The University of Ghana is seeking a Deputy Director to lead the Infrastructure Services Division of its Information Technology Directorate. The role will guide the planning, design, implementation and continuous improvement of the university’s ICT infrastructure, ensuring reliable services for more than 70,000 students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide leadership for the Network Administration, Systems Administration and Telecoms & Electricals units.
• Plan, design, implement and operate LAN, WAN, wired and wireless networks, Wi‑Fi, fiber‑optic backbone and routing/switching platforms.
• Ensure availability, performance and reliability of enterprise services such as network connectivity, identity and access management, application hosting, backup and storage, virtualization, database platforms, data‑warehouse support and data‑centre operations.
• Lead infrastructure modernization projects to enhance resilience, scalability and cybersecurity readiness.

Required profile

• Suitable academic and professional qualifications for a senior IT leadership position.
• Proven experience managing large‑scale IT infrastructure in a complex organization.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary technical teams and drive continuous improvement.
