Director of Public Affairs

About the role

The Director leads the University’s Directorate of Public Affairs, shaping and protecting the institution’s corporate image and managing relationships with key publics. Reporting to the Registrar, the role oversees protocol, official events, documentation of university history and symbols, and the Campus Broadcasting Services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the University’s corporate image and stakeholder communications.
• Plan, organise and execute official University events and protocol activities.
• Oversee the management of Campus Broadcasting Services.
• Act as the University’s spokesperson and manage media relations.
• Lead strategic and operational public relations and corporate affairs initiatives.
• Document policy documents, history, culture and symbols of the University.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in public relations, communication, journalism, events management or a related field.
• Minimum eight (8) years of senior‑level experience post‑qualification, preferably in higher education.
• Experience serving as Deputy Registrar, Deputy Director or an equivalent senior university administration role.
• Strong analytical, business sense and understanding of strategic and operational challenges in top‑level university management.
