National Service Personnel – Data and Technology Risk Intern

About the role

As a National Service Personnel – Data and Technology Risk Intern, you will support EY’s audit teams across multiple industry sectors, helping clients assess and improve their IT risk and data analytics processes.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and analyse client data to understand IT environments, risks, controls and cyber‑security profiles.
• Test IT controls against policies and leading practices, evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
• Perform data extraction, transformation and loading activities to ensure data quality for audit purposes.
• Use automated tools to conduct data analytics, generate insights and meet audit requirements.
• Collaborate with audit and data‑analytics teams, maintaining a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Required profile

• Final‑year university student pursuing a degree in Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Accounting or a related field.
• Expected CGPA of Second Class Upper or higher.
• Motivation to obtain IT audit or information‑security certifications (e.g., CISA, CRISC, CISM, CISSP) and/or accounting qualifications (e.g., ACCA, ICAG).
• Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail and effective communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, R or SQL for data analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP and macros.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
• Basic understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals and IT risk‑management frameworks.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Basic concepts of network security.
