Director of Finance

About the role

The University College is seeking a senior finance professional to lead its financial management and administration. Reporting directly to the President, the Director of Finance will provide strategic financial advice and ensure compliance with statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Inform, update and advise the President on university finances on a regular basis.
• Prepare statements, accounts and estimates for the Academic Board and Council.
• Oversee cash collection, authorise payments and manage the annual budgeting process.
• Maintain the university’s books and records in accordance with Council and Auditor‑General requirements.
• Prepare consolidated accounts for all university units and facilitate internal and external audits.
• Source funding and ensure compliance with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
• Undertake any additional assignments delegated by the Council or President.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Member of a recognised professional accounting body (e.g., ICA Ghana, ACCA, CIMA).
• Minimum ten years of post‑qualification experience, including at least four years in a senior finance role within a university or comparable institution, or fifteen years in a reputable firm or public service.
• Demonstrated integrity, leadership, communication and ICT competence.
