Director of Finance – University

About the role

The Director of Finance will lead the financial management and administration of Ghana Technology University College, reporting directly to the President. This senior position combines regulatory, operational, and strategic responsibilities to ensure the university’s financial health.

Key responsibilities

• Provide timely financial advice to the President and senior management.
• Prepare statements, accounts, and estimates for the Academic Board and Council.
• Collect receivables, authorize payments, and oversee cash management.
• Develop, present, and monitor the annual university budget.
• Maintain books and records in compliance with Council and Auditor‑General requirements.
• Report any failures in record‑keeping to the Finance Committee.
• Prepare consolidated accounts for all university units.
• Facilitate internal and external audits.
• Advise on and source funding opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).
• Undertake additional assignments as directed by the Council or President.

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Member of a recognized professional accounting body (e.g., ICA Ghana, ACCA, CIMA).
• Minimum ten (10) years of post‑qualification professional experience.
• At least four (4) years in a senior finance role within a university or comparable institution, or fifteen (15) years in reputable firms, industry, commerce, or public service.
• Demonstrated integrity, leadership, communication, and ICT competence.
