Local Consultant to support the establishment of the Local Technical Committee on Migration

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Local Consultant to support the establishment and functioning of Local Technical Committees (LTCs) on migration in four pilot districts in Ghana – Wa, Kintampo North, Dormaa Central and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly. The consultant will work closely with municipal authorities, civil‑society partners and IOM staff to strengthen local migration governance and ensure effective coordination of migration‑related activities.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the LTC secretariat and provide day‑to‑day technical and operational support.
• Develop and maintain a platform for technical dialogue among government stakeholders, ensuring alignment with Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly (MMDA) policies.
• Facilitate documentation, follow‑up on decisions, and reporting on LTC activities.
• Support capacity‑building workshops and training sessions for LTC members.
• Link LTC outcomes with national migration management frameworks and IOM project objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in migration governance, local government coordination or related consultancy work.
• Familiarity with Ghana’s decentralized planning system and the structure of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with ability to work across multiple agencies.
• Ability to produce clear documentation and reports.
