Research Consultant for Baseline Survey

About the role

Challenging Heights is seeking a Research Consultant to lead a baseline survey on the effects of lack of parental care on children in coastal areas of Ghana. The consultant will design and implement the study across four districts, providing data to shape interventions and advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the research methodology in collaboration with Challenging Heights staff.
• Conduct field data collection in Awutu Senya, Effutu Municipal, Agona West, and the Kaneshie area.
• Engage with district officials, education services, social welfare, police, and human rights commissions to gather information.
• Analyze findings to estimate the number of children without parental care and identify drivers of child labour and trafficking.
• Produce a comprehensive report with recommendations for program design and policy advocacy.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in social research, development studies, or related fields.
• Experience conducting surveys or baseline studies in Ghana or similar contexts.
• Strong understanding of child protection, child labour, and trafficking issues.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
