Communications and External Affairs Officer (Accra)

About the role

The Communications and External Affairs Officer will join the Western and Central Africa team at the World Bank’s Accra office. The role supports the design and delivery of stakeholder engagement, communications, advocacy, and reputational risk management activities that advance the Bank’s development priorities across the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic communication plans for regional and country initiatives.
• Engage with media, civil society, private sector, donor countries, and international organizations to build support for World Bank priorities.
• Manage reputational risk by monitoring public discourse and responding to emerging issues.
• Produce and disseminate content across traditional and digital channels, including social media.
• Collaborate with operational teams to ensure alignment of communication activities with development outcomes.

Required profile

• University degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in external affairs, stakeholder engagement, or strategic communications, preferably in an international or development context.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and coordinate with regional teams.
