Dean, School of Performing Arts

About the role

The University of Ghana is seeking a senior academic leader to serve as Dean of the School of Performing Arts within the College of Humanities, effective 1 January 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and vision for the School of Performing Arts, overseeing the Departments of Dance Studies, Theatre Arts and Music.
• Ensure that approved programmes are delivered effectively and in line with university statutes, policies and the Academic Board.
• Manage human, financial and material resources in accordance with university regulations.
• Promote interdisciplinary teaching, research and extension activities across the School.
• Foster a collegial working environment and support faculty development.
• Attract research funding and drive the growth and development of the School.

Required profile

• Professorial status (or equivalent senior academic/industry position) from a recognised academic or research institution.
• Demonstrated academic leadership in teaching, research and extension within performing arts disciplines.
• Proven managerial and administrative experience with capacity to lead a multi‑departmental unit.
• Ability to secure research and development funding.
• Vision and drive to oversee the School’s growth and development.
