Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services

About the role

The Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery Services will support the Director in delivering high‑quality, safe patient care at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. This fixed‑term position (four years, renewable) focuses on policy development, quality assurance, research integration, and strategic planning for nursing and midwifery services.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director in overseeing the provision of quality nursing and midwifery services across the hospital.
• Develop and update policies, guidelines, and standards to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Provide technical advice on nursing, midwifery, human‑resource, and procurement matters.
• Promote research awareness, facilitate dissemination of findings, and integrate evidence into practice.
• Monitor and evaluate standards of care, preparing regular reports for senior management.
• Coordinate regular review meetings with nurse managers and foster networks with local and international professional bodies.
• Support the formulation of strategic plans and collaborate on reforms and policy initiatives.
• Assist in pharmacy‑related activities, including medicines information services and budgeting.

Required profile

• Currently serving officer of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital or a sister agency of the Ministry of Health.
• Qualified nurse or midwife with extensive experience in clinical leadership.
• Not older than 56 years by September 2025.
• Demonstrated ability to lead quality‑assurance initiatives and manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills.
