About the role
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic Team Leader to manage our vehicle maintenance workshop. You will supervise a team of mechanics, ensure safe and reliable fleet operations, and drive continuous improvement in maintenance processes.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily activities of the vehicle maintenance team, assigning tasks and managing manpower.
- Oversee inspection, servicing, repair, and maintenance of heavy‑duty trucks, commercial and light‑duty vehicles.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical faults in diesel/petrol engines, transmissions, clutches, braking, suspension, steering, drivetrains and hydraulic systems.
- Develop and implement preventive‑maintenance schedules to minimise breakdowns and downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections, verify completed repairs and ensure vehicles are safe for service.
- Enforce HSE requirements, safety procedures and proper workshop practices.
- Manage workshop tools, equipment, spare parts and maintenance materials.
- Coordinate with Procurement and Warehouse to secure critical spare parts.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, breakdowns and maintenance history.
- Monitor vehicle downtime and maintenance costs, recommending improvements.
- Investigate recurring faults and propose corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance and on‑the‑job training to mechanics.
- Coordinate emergency and roadside repairs when needed.
Required profile
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Technology, Mechatronics or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years hands‑on vehicle maintenance experience, with strong focus on heavy‑duty trucks.
- At least 2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
- Proven experience maintaining heavy trucks, commercial and fleet vehicles.
- Good knowledge of HSE and workshop safety requirements.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergency breakdowns.

- Braking system maintenance.
- Suspension, steering and drivetrain repair.
- Hydraulic system maintenance.
- Preventive‑maintenance planning for fleet vehicles.
- Use of workshop tools, equipment and spare‑part management.
- Familiarity with heavy‑truck brands such as HOWO, Shacman, Volvo, MAN, Mercedes‑Benz, Scania.
