Mine Planning Engineer II

About the role

Gold Fields Ghana is looking for an experienced Mine Planning Engineer II to join the Technical Services team at the Tarkwa Mine. The role involves creating and maintaining high‑volume, selective open‑pit mine plans, supporting operational teams, and helping control key cost drivers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, present and issue weekly, monthly and three‑monthly mine plans that integrate grade control drilling, drill‑and‑blast, maintenance schedules and de‑watering.
• Design practical, minable solutions to ensure plans are realistic and achievable.
• Collaborate with operations, business partners and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and execution of mine plans.
• Prepare waste dump and haulage plans, and monitor spatial compliance on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
• Ensure pit and waste‑dump designs meet technical and safety requirements and oversee dump management from preparation to rehabilitation.
• Provide technical support to other departments, consultants and optimise haulage operations using mine haulage software.

Required profile

• Minimum tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of experience in open‑pit gold mining, with a focus on planning in a high‑volume selective environment.
• Strong background in open‑pit design, scheduling and operational execution.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to obtain a site driving permit.
• Medical fitness for the role and environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mining software such as ALASTRI, DESWIK, SURPAC, DATAMINE and WHITTLE.
