About the role

Newmont's Ahafo South mine, Ghana's largest gold mine and its flagship African operation, is looking for a Supervisor, Geology, Resources. The role is based in the Apensu underground mine and involves coordinating and monitoring drilling programmes to deliver accurate geological data, safe and environmentally compliant operations and effective team collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise in-fill drilling programmes and collaborate with drilling teams on drill-hole placement, including helping develop drilling schedules and budgets.
• Evaluate and manage geological data to support resource modelling and mine planning, and supervise sampling activities for quality control and data accuracy.
• Maintain accurate records and reports of geological data and drilling activities, and update the Superintendent Geology on progress and findings.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior geologists and drilling teams, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements during drilling and stop unsafe work.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geology or Geological Engineering, including professional registration.
• At least 5-8 years of industry experience in underground, mine and resource geology, of which at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Underground working experience.
• Knowledge of in-fill drilling programmes, geological data management, sampling quality control, geological reporting and end-of-month reconciliation.
