Monitoring and Research Officer – Strengthening Newborn Respiratory Care Project

About the role

Project HOPE is seeking a Monitoring and Research Officer to lead the monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) component of an 18‑month project that aims to strengthen newborn respiratory care in district hospitals across Accra, Ghana. The role will be based in Accra and will work closely with the Ghana Health Service and Ministry of Health.

Key responsibilities

• Track project indicators using the District Health Information Management System (DHIMS2), facility registers and standardized monitoring tools.
• Support baseline and end‑line data collection, ensuring data quality and completeness.
• Analyse monitoring data, produce regular performance reports and provide actionable recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
• Coordinate with hospital staff, government partners and Project HOPE teams to integrate MEL activities into existing health information systems.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of MEL frameworks, indicators and learning tools.

Required profile

• At least 4 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, research or related public‑health roles.
• Demonstrated experience working with health information systems, preferably DHIMS2.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to produce clear, data‑driven reports.
• Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work collaboratively with government and NGO partners.
