Policy Dialogue & Research Communications Specialist

About the role

The INDEPTH Secretariat in Accra is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Policy Dialogue and Research Communications Specialist to lead its Policy Dialogue and Communications Section. The role will drive the design, implementation and dynamisation of a policy dialogue and communications programme while contributing to INDEPTH’s knowledge generation and synthesis activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritise research findings for policy briefs, identify policy options and implementation barriers.
• Develop and support knowledge‑translation and policy‑analysis proposals and projects.
• Analyse policy documents, processes and environments to inform advocacy programmes.
• Facilitate INDEPTH’s participation in research‑to‑policy dialogues, attend meetings and make presentations.
• Expand policy networks by establishing contacts with policymakers, regional bodies and networks.
• Oversee production of institutional publications such as brochures, newsletters and annual reports.
• Develop policy‑oriented outputs including research bulletins, development perspectives and policy briefs.
• Link research to media, cultivate journalist relationships and facilitate media coverage of INDEPTH’s work.
• Manage the INDEPTH website, ensuring content is up‑to‑date and functional.

Required profile

• Proven experience in communicating health or population research to policy audiences.
• Strong understanding of policy processes and ability to analyse policy environments.
• Demonstrated ability to engage policymakers, regional bodies and media outlets.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including report and brief preparation.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, multi‑site research network.
