Science & Astronomy Communicator (Lead Facilitator)

About the role

We are looking for an energetic Science & Astronomy Communicator to lead immersive planetarium shows and satellite demonstrations for primary and secondary schools across Ghana. You will travel to school sites, operate high‑tech inflatable domes and fulldome projection systems, and inspire students aged 6‑18 to explore space science.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑energy planetarium tours using fulldome astronomical simulation software such as Stellarium.
• Explain complex astrophysical concepts—including planetary orbits, black holes, rocket propulsion, and satellite telemetry—in clear, engaging language.
• Showcase 3D‑printed and CNC‑machined satellite hardware models and coordinate live Q&A sessions.
• Assist with safe handling, setup, and deployment of inflatable domes and projection equipment.
• Collaborate with the Mission Director to link virtual ground stations during events.

Required profile

• Demonstrated passion for astronomy, physics, or aerospace engineering.
• Fluent spoken English with confident public‑speaking abilities.
• Proven talent for engaging and inspiring children in educational settings.
• Ability to break down scientific phenomena using simple analogies.
• Residency in Accra.

Required skills

• Experience with fulldome astronomical software (e.g., Stellarium, WorldWide Telescope, Celestia).

What we offer

• Access to miniature satellite hardware (CubeSats/PocketQubes) under development.
• Hands‑on training with commercial‑grade planetarium projection systems.
• Networking with a UK‑based Mission Director and exposure to international aerospace standards.
• Performance‑based daily rates plus milestone bonuses for successful school partnerships.
