Trustee – Board Member (Volunteer)

About the role

Sabre Education is seeking 1–2 Africa‑based Trustees to join its Board and help steer an ambitious growth strategy across Ghana and Sub‑Saharan Africa. This is a pivotal moment as the charity scales its play‑based teacher training programme and strengthens education systems in partnership with the Ghanaian government.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and oversight for the charity’s mission and activities.
• Constructively challenge and support the management team to ensure effective governance.
• Represent Sabre Education at external events and engage key stakeholders through personal networks.
• Attend a minimum of four formal Board meetings per year and occasional additional meetings or events.

Required profile

• Proven strategic leadership experience, preferably in international or non‑profit contexts.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.
• Understanding of good governance, compliance and risk management.
• Lived experience in Africa, particularly Sub‑Saharan Africa.
• Experience scaling international programmes or organisations, or finance/business management experience.
