Captain – Commercial Airline Pilot

About the role

Join Africa World Airlines as a Captain and lead the safe, efficient operation of scheduled regional flights across West Africa. Based in the Greater Accra Region, you will be responsible for pre‑flight planning, aircraft inspection, and coordination with ground and cabin crews.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑flight briefings, aircraft checks, and flight planning for each scheduled flight.
• Operate the aircraft in compliance with Ghana Civil Aviation Authority regulations and company SOPs.
• Lead the flight crew, ensuring adherence to safety, security, and customer‑service standards.
• Monitor aircraft systems, navigation, performance and modern avionics throughout the flight.
• Make critical decisions under varying operational conditions, including weather changes and disruptions.
• Participate in recurrent training, report operational issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Valid Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) with appropriate type rating.
• Current Class 1 medical certificate meeting Ghana Civil Aviation Authority requirements.
• Significant total flight hours and recent Pilot‑in‑Command experience on commercial jet or turboprop aircraft, preferably on West African regional routes.
• Strong knowledge of aviation safety, risk management, and emergency procedures.
• Excellent leadership, crew resource management and communication abilities.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; additional regional languages are a plus.
• Willingness to work flexible hours.
