Cat Mechanic – Heavy Equipment Repair

About the role

Carry out general repairs and component overhauls on the full range of Caterpillar equipment, diagnose machine faults using certified testing equipment and perform failure analysis and inspections.

Key responsibilities

• Remove and install machine components following service manuals and quality control procedures.
• Perform scheduled maintenance, pre‑delivery inspections (PDI) and assembly tasks.
• Clean, label, store and manage disassembled parts to ensure contamination‑free re‑assembly.
• Book time spent on jobs, submit service reports and SIMS documentation daily.
• Inspect components, generate parts quotations using the SIS system and carry out minor troubleshooting with Caterpillar diagnostic tools.

Required profile

• Minimum Intermediate MVT/MET/EET qualification.
• At least three years of post‑qualification experience with heavy‑duty earthmoving, mining or construction machinery.
• Valid Ghanaian driver’s licence (B/E).
• Ability to work in noisy, dusty environments and on weekends or holidays as needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Caterpillar specialized diagnostic tooling.
• Experience using the SIS quoting system for parts quotations.
• Line boring experience (advantageous).
