Central Scheduler III

About the role

Capital Health, a healthcare provider with two hospitals, an outpatient centre and a network of primary and specialty care, is hiring a Central Scheduler III. The role schedules outpatient tests for hospital departments and appointments for physician practices accurately and efficiently, keeps scheduling information up to date across multiple systems and acts as a resource for Scheduler I and II.

Key responsibilities

• Schedule hospital outpatient tests and physician appointments within multiple scheduling systems
• Pre-register all patients and advise them of pre-certification and referral requirements for reimbursement
• Coordinate dates and times with hospital departments and physician practices according to their protocols
• Act as a super user of the scheduling computer applications and train new employees, supporting them through their probationary period
• Notify staff, patients, departments and practices of additions, changes and cancellations
• Adhere to Capital Health and interdepartmental policies and procedures

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Three years of departmental or scheduling experience
• Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment and communicate with directors, managers and supervisors

• Strong customer service skills
• Insurance and precertification knowledge
• Intermediate medical terminology
• Proficiency in insurance requirements for outpatient tests and physician appointments
• Intermediate computer skills
