CIC Technician – Underground

About the role

The CIC Technician – Underground will execute planned and corrective maintenance on control, communication and instrumentation systems within the Obuasi underground mine. The role ensures safe, compliant, and high‑quality work while supporting the mine’s mechanisation and productivity goals.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and condition‑monitoring tasks (visual, infrared, ultrasonic, motor‑current, flux, NDT) on underground CIC equipment.
• Collect and analyse predictive‑maintenance data (vibration, IR, etc.) to identify equipment health trends.
• Generate work requests in SAP for refurbishment, repair planning and scheduling.
• Assist the CIC Supervisor in developing monitoring routes and conducting audits of refurbishment and maintenance activities.
• Participate in root‑cause failure analysis and propose cost‑reduction initiatives.
• Coordinate with contractors, monitor equipment performance on the asset‑health system, and ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Required profile

• Experienced, self‑motivated professional with a background in underground control, instrumentation and communication maintenance.
• Strong understanding of Ghanaian mining safety and environmental regulations.
• Ability to work safely in an underground environment and follow total‑quality‑management principles.
• Proactive attitude towards continuous improvement and cost optimisation.

Required skills

• SAP (work‑request creation and maintenance planning).
• Infrared thermography, ultrasonic testing, motor‑current and flux data collection.
• Non‑destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
• Vibration analysis and predictive‑maintenance data interpretation.
• Condition‑monitoring tools and advanced portable data collectors.
• Root‑cause failure analysis methodology.
