Communications Officer

About the role

The Communications Officer develops and implements the Foundation's communication and public relations strategy to raise its visibility, strengthen stakeholder engagement and promote its mission and impact. The role covers content creation, media relations, digital communications, branding, event publicity and documentation of programmes, reaching beneficiaries, partners, donors, government institutions, traditional authorities and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Foundation's communication and public relations strategy.
• Create content for press releases, newsletters, annual reports, brochures, speeches and promotional materials.
• Manage the website and social media platforms with timely, engaging content.
• Document programmes, projects and events through articles, photography, videos and success stories.
• Coordinate media coverage for events, summits, community outreaches and other activities.
• Build relationships with journalists, media houses, development partners and communication stakeholders.
• Prepare materials for fundraising campaigns, donor engagement and partnerships; support branding and visual identity.
• Produce newsletters, publications and periodic impact reports.
• Monitor media coverage and public visibility, and run public education campaigns on community development, health, education, agriculture and youth empowerment.
• Plan communication for major projects and events, assist with press conferences and stakeholder engagements, and manage digital archives.
• Respond to public enquiries, support internal communication among staff and volunteers, and monitor social media engagement.
• Ensure all materials align with the Foundation's values, objectives and donor requirements, and perform other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
