Dental Nurse / Assistant

About the role

The Dental Nurse / Assistant will work chairside with dental practitioners, providing clinical support and ensuring strict adherence to infection control standards. This role contributes to the smooth operation of the dental unit within a leading private hospital in Ghana.

Key responsibilities

• Assist during dental examinations and procedures.
• Prepare patients and treatment areas before each appointment.
• Sterilise and decontaminate instruments according to regulatory standards.
• Maintain dental equipment for clinical use.
• Accurately document patient records and treatment notes.
• Support patient safety and quality‑improvement protocols.
• Provide oral health education and post‑treatment care instructions.
• Manage dental supplies and stock levels.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain confidentiality.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Dental Nursing/Dental Assisting from a recognised institution.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Ghana.
• Valid practising licence.
• Minimum two years of clinical experience in a dental or hospital setting (preferred).
• Knowledge of infection prevention, sterilisation, and clinical safety standards.
• Basic computer literacy and documentation skills.
