Head of Nursing

About the role

Ridge Medical Center, a private healthcare provider in Ghana offering general medicine, specialist consultations, diagnostics, laboratory and radiology services, pharmacy and preventive health screenings, is hiring a Head of Nursing. This is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Accra, responsible for overseeing all nursing services and ensuring high standards of patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Manage nursing teams, coordinate staffing and scheduling, and support clinical decision-making with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
• Develop and implement nursing policies, protocols and best practices, monitor clinical performance and drive continuous quality improvement across all units.
• Mentor and coach nursing staff and promote evidence-based practice.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and infection control standards and support initiatives that improve patient safety and satisfaction.
• Contribute to strategic planning, manage departmental resources and foster a positive, collaborative work environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Nursing.
• Current nursing licensure and 4-5 years of work experience in hospitals, including at least 2 years in a private healthcare facility.
• Broad understanding of medicine to support interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Proven track record in quality improvement, including implementing protocols and measuring outcomes.
• Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, performance management and staff development.

Required skills

• Knowledge of patient-centered nursing practice and familiarity with healthcare regulations, infection prevention standards and clinical risk management.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities with attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
