Director, Ghana and Anglophone West Africa

About the role

This senior position leads regional trade and development programmes across Ghana and Anglophone West Africa, focusing on AfCFTA, ECOWAS and UEMOA initiatives. The Director provides strategic vision, manages a high‑performing team and represents the organisation with governments, donors and private sector partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor trade‑facilitation programmes in Ghana and the wider Anglophone West African region.
• Identify new strategic opportunities, develop business cases and secure donor funding.
• Oversee full programme cycles including design, procurement, contract management and results reporting.
• Maintain robust risk, financial and compliance controls, ensuring zero tolerance for fraud and corruption.
• Lead operational and business strategy development for West Africa programming.
• Prepare Project Appraisal Reports and other governance documentation.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in regional trade, development or similar multi‑country programmes.
• Strong ability to engage with governments, development partners, regional institutions and civil society.
• Demonstrated track record in fundraising, business development and high‑level stakeholder management.
• Excellent autonomy, strategic thinking and results‑orientation.
