Director of Sustainability

About the role

This senior leadership position is responsible for developing, implementing and continuously improving the sustainability strategy, policies and programmes at the Iduapriem mine, ensuring alignment with business objectives, regulatory requirements and international best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply mining and social legislation at site level, consulting legal on high‑risk matters.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with government, regulators, traditional authorities, communities, NGOs and media.
• Implement and oversee compliance with IFC Performance Standards and ICMM Mining Principles.
• Manage crises, safety incidents and social closure plans for responsible mine closure.
• Oversee community engagement, grievance management, trust fund delivery and socio‑economic development plans.
• Secure environmental permits, monitor ESG risks and report sustainability risk data to senior leadership.
• Build team capacity on compliance topics and manage departmental budget and HR planning.

Required profile

• At least 10 years progressive experience in social performance, community relations or sustainability, with 5 years in senior leadership.
• Strong track record of establishing strategic partnerships with government, regulators, communities and NGOs.
• Deep knowledge of Ghanaian mining legislation and international sustainability frameworks.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and crisis‑management skills.
