Director, Sustainability

About the role

This senior leadership position is responsible for developing and implementing Iduapriem’s sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals, regulatory requirements and international best practices. The role drives ESG performance, stakeholder engagement and community value creation to maintain the company’s social licence to operate.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and apply mining and social legislation at the site level, consulting with Legal on complex matters.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with government, regulators, traditional authorities, communities, NGOs and media.
• Implement and oversee compliance with IFC Performance Standards and ICMM Mining Principles.
• Manage crises and incidents, ensuring safety for employees, contractors and host communities.
• Develop and monitor social closure plans, community trust fund commitments and socio‑economic development plans.
• Secure and maintain environmental permits and licenses, ensuring timely reporting.
• Build team capacity on compliance topics such as anti‑bribery, ethical conduct and conflict of interest.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, Social Sciences or related field; postgraduate qualification advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years progressive experience in social performance or sustainability, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
• Proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships and develop successful sustainability strategies.
• Strong knowledge of Ghanaian mining legislation and social requirements.

Required skills

• Expertise in IFC Performance Standards.
• Knowledge of ICMM Mining Principles.
• Understanding of Ghanaian mining and social legislation.
