Engineer, Transmission Planning

About the role

The Engineer, Transmission Planning will design, optimise and maintain the radio access and back‑haul transmission network for a multinational telecom operator. The role involves field surveys, link engineering, network design and ensuring regulatory compliance across a dynamic, competitive ICT environment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and select transmission sites with adequate power and cooling.
• Perform path profiling, antenna height calculations and Fresnel clearance analysis.
• Execute transmission link engineering, including link parameter calculations, interference analysis and power budgeting.
• Design passive and active optical networks (DWDM, GPON) and plan lambda distribution.
• Optimise network performance, create redundancy, troubleshoot congestion and upgrade OLT back‑haul capacity.
• Maintain network databases, equipment logs and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Required profile

• BSc in Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a telecom environment, specifically in transmission planning.
• Strong knowledge of transmission network topology, traffic engineering and link capacity planning.
• Familiarity with SDH/PDH/IP network planning principles and ITU standards.
• Experience with site selection, LOS surveys and optical network technologies (WDM, SDH).
