About the role
Phundit helps young Ghanaians build better money habits and financial resilience, with an AI financial guide. It is growing its team and platform, and is hiring a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead day-to-day delivery of the Flutter mobile app and the TypeScript backend. The manager reports to the CTO, works alongside the Software Architect and collaborates with product, design and the founders.
Key responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery of the engineering build, turning product goals and designs into a reliable, secure product, from planning and implementation through testing, monitoring and improvement.
- Lead, support and develop the engineering team through regular one-to-ones, clear feedback and fair workload planning.
- Plan and run sprints with clear goals, keep delivery tracking current, and report progress, risks and trade-offs to leadership in plain language.
- Take part in code reviews alongside the Software Architect and make sure the team follows engineering standards for code quality, testing and continuous integration.
- Plan and track partner integrations from sandbox testing to go-live.
- Support security and compliance in a regulated financial services environment, including secure development, change control and incident response.
- Work closely with product and design, mentor engineers and help hire new ones.
Required profile
- At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years leading a team of engineers in a product company.
- Experience in fintech, payments or banking, ideally including integrations with payment or banking partners.
- A track record of agile delivery: sprint planning, backlog management and reliable releases.
- Sound secure development practice and good judgement on code handling money and personal data.
- Clear, calm communication with non-technical leaders, partners and engineers.
Required skills
- Flutter and Dart, TypeScript and Node.js, Firebase and Google Cloud.
- Nice to have: Python and FastAPI, or BigQuery and data pipelines; credit, lending or financial data experience; LLM-based feature experience; ISO/IEC 27001:2022 or SOC 2 audit experience; knowledge of Ghanaian financial regulation.
Working arrangements
- Full-time, hybrid, based in Ghana; applicants outside Ghana are welcome to apply.
- 3-month probation period; competitive package based on market rates.
- To apply, send a CV and a cover letter mentioning a team led and a project involving money or personal data.
