Senior Data Engineer, Data Lead

About the role

AmaliTech, a global consulting and technology services provider, is hiring a Senior Data Engineer / Data Lead in Accra to lead a data workstream for a US enterprise client. The role covers everything from gathering business rules to production pipelines and executive reporting, and is hands-on every day, with the person junior engineers turn to first.

Key responsibilities

• Own one or more client workstreams end to end: scope, plan, build, validation and handover.
• Build and maintain pipelines and lakehouse layers in Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouses, Notebooks, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2) following Medallion standards.
• Integrate ERP and operational sources such as SAP ECC, Infor, CMiC, Sage 300 and Salesforce, and document the business rules behind each dataset.
• Design Power BI semantic models and reports for finance and operations users.
• Validate data with client finance and BI teams, own the fixes until the numbers reconcile, and run regular working sessions with client counterparts.
• Review code from junior engineers and enforce testing, documentation and version-control standards.
• Mentor junior associates and graduate-programme shadows, and contribute reusable playbooks and templates.

Required profile

• 5+ years in data engineering or BI, with at least 2 years leading a workstream or small team for a client or business unit.
• Experience delivering on Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse/Data Factory or Databricks, plus Power BI (DAX, semantic models, Row-Level Security).
• Experience with finance or ERP data (GL, job cost, AP/AR, inventory) and reconciliation with business users.
• Comfortable in front of client stakeholders, writes clear English, owns outcomes and follows issues through to resolution.
• Strong plus: Microsoft Fabric or Azure data certifications, experience with US clients across time zones, exposure to AI applications on enterprise data, Azure DevOps or GitHub CI/CD for data, and knowledge of construction, industrial services, manufacturing or mining operations.

• Strong SQL and Python/PySpark; solid dimensional modelling
