Fleet and Port Operations Officer (Logistics Manager)

About the role

Complete Farmer is hiring a Fleet and Port Operations Officer (Logistics Manager) in its Supply Chain and Fulfilment department, reporting to the Supply Chain Director. The role is field-based across the company's operating territories, with frequent travel to farms, aggregation points, fulfilment centres, carrier yards, border posts, ports and airports. It builds and runs a safe, controlled and scalable fleet and port operating system that moves every authorized crop, input and finished shipment through the network on time, intact, traceable, compliant and at the approved cost.

Key responsibilities

• Translate buyer demand, crop pickup plans, fulfilment schedules, input-distribution plans and export calendars into a rolling transport, fleet, freight and port plan, validated for feasibility before commitments are made.
• Maintain an integrated movement view covering cargo readiness, origin and destination, QA gates, vehicles, routes, bookings, costs, risks and contingencies.
• Develop the fleet strategy and approved mix of owned, leased, dedicated and spot third-party capacity, and keep a complete fleet and carrier register.
• Set maintenance, inspection, cleaning, sanitation and calibration standards, and approve vehicle allocation and carrier selection within delegated authority.
• Direct Fleet Officers to turn the movement plan into trip assignments, route plans, loading slots, dispatch documentation and driver briefs.
• Enforce pre-trip checks, monitor active trips via GPS and telematics, and coordinate safe loading, cross-docking and handovers.
• Coordinate port operations, export and customs clearance with freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines and airlines, ensuring all documents are accurate and complete.
• Track milestones from inspection to handover, prevent and recover customs holds, demurrage and detention, and maintain complete shipment files.
• Plan multimodal movements around border hours and axle limits, qualify and manage partners through SLAs and scorecards, and define chain-of-custody controls with QA.
