Logistics Manager - Fleet and Port Operations

About the role

Complete Farmer is hiring a Logistics Manager for its Supply Chain and Fulfilment team, covering fleet, transport and export logistics. The role is field-based across the company's operating territories, with frequent travel to farms, aggregation points, fulfilment centres, carrier yards, border posts, ports and airports. It reports to the Supply Chain Director and manages Fleet Officers and Port Operations Officers, coordinating drivers, third-party carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers and shipping lines.

Key responsibilities

• Translate buyer demand, crop pickup plans, fulfilment schedules, input-distribution plans and export calendars into a rolling transport, fleet, freight and port plan, validated for feasibility before commitments
• Maintain an integrated movement view covering cargo readiness, quantities, routes, costs, risks and contingencies
• Build the fleet strategy and approved mix of owned, leased, dedicated and spot third-party capacity, and keep a complete fleet and carrier register
• Set maintenance, inspection and sanitation standards, approve vehicle allocation and carrier selection, and develop replacement and disposal recommendations
• Direct Fleet Officers to turn the plan into trip assignments, route plans, loading slots and dispatch documentation, and enforce pre-trip checks
• Monitor active trips via GPS and telematics, coordinate loading, cross-docking and handovers, and investigate shortages, delays and damage
• Lead Port Operations Officers in preparing shipment files and backward plans, and coordinate freight forwarders, customs brokers, shipping lines and terminals
• Ensure export documents such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin and export declarations are accurate and ready
• Track customs clearance, inspection and gate-in milestones, and prevent and recover customs holds, demurrage and detention
• Plan multimodal movements around border hours and axle limits, qualify and manage carriers and partners, and maintain backup capacity and alternative routes
• Define transport handling and chain-of-custody controls with QA, keeping documented records from pickup through every transfer and handover
