Fleet Manager

About the role

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's entire vehicle fleet, ensuring roadworthiness, regulatory compliance, and availability for tourism, corporate transport, and rental operations. The role focuses on maximizing fleet efficiency while minimizing operating costs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day fleet operations, allocating vehicles to tours, transfers, rentals, and corporate assignments.
• Develop and enforce preventive maintenance schedules, oversee repairs, and keep accurate maintenance records.
• Maintain a comprehensive fleet register, monitor vehicle age and mileage, and coordinate procurement or disposal.
• Supervise drivers, ensure compliance with safety policies, conduct training, and investigate incidents.
• Monitor fuel consumption, manage fuel cards, and implement cost‑saving initiatives.
• Ensure all vehicles have valid roadworthy certificates, insurance, licences, permits, fire extinguishers and first‑aid kits, complying with DVLA and transport regulations.
• Utilise GPS tracking systems to monitor vehicle movements, enforce approved routes, and generate utilization reports.
• Prepare annual fleet budgets, track expenses, review supplier invoices, and negotiate contracts with garages, tyre suppliers, insurers and fuel providers.
• Produce regular reports on fleet utilisation, fuel use, maintenance costs, downtime, accidents and driver performance.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing a vehicle fleet, including maintenance planning and driver supervision.
• Strong knowledge of transport regulations, safety standards and compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to control operating costs, manage budgets and negotiate with service providers.
• Excellent organisational skills with a focus on maximizing vehicle productivity.
