Geological Technician – Core Processing

About the role

The Geological Technician will support the Mine Geologist in managing drill core from underground drilling at Subika, ensuring timely delivery to the assay laboratory and maintaining core processing performance.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver drill core daily to the core shed and verify hole IDs, labels, and depths.
• Prepare core for logging by adding meter marks and indicating loss zones.
• Prepare sample tags after logging and manage sample breaks.
• Perform core sampling according to cut sheets, label bags correctly, and include QA/QC materials.
• Capture and archive core photographs following naming conventions.
• Maintain inventory of drilling and sampling consumables and raise supply orders as needed.
• Liaise with the Assay Lab Technician for pulp sample transport and storage.
• Collaborate with Drilling Geologists to update core processing procedures.
• Enter daily drill plod data into the drill spreadsheet.

Required profile

• Technical training or experience in geological core handling.
• Attention to detail and ability to work on a rotational schedule.
• Basic computer literacy for data entry and inventory tracking.
