IT Support Officer

About the role

The IT Support Officer provides day-to-day technical support and maintains the organisation's IT infrastructure, systems, networks and digital platforms, ensuring staff have reliable access to the technology and tools needed to do their work. The role covers troubleshooting, hardware and software maintenance, user support, email and digital systems, and help with the website and social media platforms. It is a full-time position within the non-profit and NGO sector.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, operating systems, networks, printers, scanners and other IT equipment.
• Monitor computer systems and networks to keep them secure, functional and reliable.
• Respond promptly to staff IT support requests, technical issues and service enquiries.
• Guide staff on the effective use of computers, software, networks and digital tools.
• Set up user accounts, email accounts and system access for new staff.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace and maintain faulty or damaged IT equipment.
• Assist with installing, testing and deploying new technologies, software and IT solutions.
• Maintain the email system, including user accounts, access and basic troubleshooting.
• Support the management, maintenance and updating of the organisation's website.
• Help manage and maintain social media platforms and the organisation's digital presence.
• Carry out routine checks and maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Keep records of IT assets, equipment, software, user accounts and support activities.
• Support data backup, system security and basic cybersecurity practices.
• Advise staff on IT best practices and stay informed about emerging technologies to recommend useful tools.
