Machine Operator (Cranes & Heavy Equipment)

About the role

Genser Energy is hiring a Machine Operator for its Operations & Maintenance (OM) / Power division, reporting directly to the Mechanical Reliability Engineer. The operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery and equipment used in site operations, and also supports routine operations, preventive maintenance, equipment inspections, troubleshooting and general maintenance.

Key responsibilities

• Operate cranes for lifting, moving, positioning, loading and unloading materials, equipment and structures according to approved lifting plans, site procedures and safety requirements.
• Carry out pre-start, operational and post-operation inspections of cranes and lifting equipment.
• Coordinate with riggers, signalers and supervisors for safe lifting operations.
• As permitted by competency, training, certification and authorization, operate other heavy machinery and mobile equipment such as forklifts, telehandlers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, boom lifts, manlifts, trucks, generators and compressors.
• Keep equipment within manufacturer specifications, statutory requirements and company procedures, and report defects, malfunctions or unsafe conditions.
• Maintain accurate operating logs, inspection records and equipment checklists, and keep areas tidy after maintenance work.
• Follow safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements and operational standards, conduct pre-task risk assessments and toolbox talks, use PPE and comply with environmental and process safety management requirements (EIS, PSM, MOC).

Required profile

• HND or NVTI Part 1, Part 2 or Part qualification.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience operating cranes not less than 400T.
• Attention to detail, willingness to improve efficiency through processes and procedures, ability to follow rules and instructions, and adherence to ethical standards and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Valid Heavy Equipment License - Class DE
• Valid Mincom Certificate of Competence for cranes not less than 400T
