Manager, Mining - KMS

About the role

The Manager, Mining - KMS is accountable for developing, enhancing and sustaining the operating systems and processes of the mining function, and for delivering project-related initiatives that drive continuous improvement. The role covers operational efficiency, quality assurance and control, cost management, planning and project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement systems, processes and work practices that improve operational efficiency, and schedule and oversee their refinement.
• Define and document Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) requirements and maintain robust QA/QC practices.
• Create improvement plans focused on process flow optimization and cross-functional collaboration, and run a continuous improvement project pipeline covering mining techniques, resource cost-effectiveness, contracts, regulatory compliance, risk management, standardized processes, access to technology and capital, and team capability development.
• Deliver timely, budget-compliant mining plans that meet technical specifications and demonstrate productivity gains.
• Manage the annual cost centre budget, including staffing, output deliverables and schedules, and prepare a cost centre budget risk management plan.
• Implement internal cost controls, monitor plan versus actual performance, conduct budget risk assessments and define and approve projects in the pipeline.
• Develop and execute development plans, optimize short-, medium- and long-term planning, and manage transition plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency or equivalent preferred.
• At least 10 years of underground mining experience, of which at least 5 years in senior supervisory roles.
• Proven track record in operational management, project planning and integrating mining processes.
• Experience developing and executing budget plans and understanding of mining cost drivers.

Required skills

• Familiarity with mining software and advanced mine planning tools (crucial).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
