Mine Planning Engineer II – High-Volume Selective Mining

About the role

Gold Fields Ghana is looking for an experienced Mine Planning Engineer II to lead the development and execution of mine plans in a high‑volume selective open‑pit gold mining environment at Tarkwa Mine. The role supports the mining team by delivering accurate, cost‑effective plans and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, present and issue weekly, monthly and three‑monthly mine plans, integrating grade‑control drilling, drill‑and‑blast, maintenance schedules and dewatering based on bench progression strategy.
• Create practical, minable designs to ensure plans are realistic and achievable.
• Coordinate with Operations, Business Partners and other stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and execution of mine plans.
• Prepare and issue waste‑dump and haulage plans, incorporating input from key stakeholders.
• Monitor and report spatial compliance to plan on a weekly, monthly and annual basis.
• Ensure pit and waste‑dump designs meet technical and safety requirements and manage dump operations from preparation to rehabilitation.
• Provide technical support to other departments and optimise haulage operations using mine haulage software.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years experience in open‑pit gold mining planning, preferably in a high‑volume selective environment.
• Extensive experience in open‑pit planning, design, scheduling and operations.
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to obtain a site driving permit.
• Medical fitness for the position and strong communication skills.
