Monitoring and Evaluation Officer (Long‑term Staff)

About the role

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will provide professional expertise in data collection, statistics, analysis and reporting to support UNICEF Ghana’s programmes. The role focuses on designing, implementing and communicating monitoring and evaluation activities that inform strategic planning and improve programme impact for children.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain an Integrated Monitoring, Evaluation & Research Plan (IMEP) aligned with strategic priorities.
• Conduct timely monitoring of programme outcomes, collaborating with national partners and the Country Office.
• Support major monitoring initiatives, including execution of Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) and analysis of national household surveys.
• Design, implement and oversee evaluations, ensuring high‑quality processes and products.
• Disseminate evaluation findings, recommendations and reports to relevant stakeholders.
• Strengthen the monitoring and evaluation capacities of Country Office staff and national partners through training and mentorship.
• Facilitate effective communication and partnerships with the UN Country Team, regional office and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field (e.g., statistics, social sciences, public health, international development).
• Professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, research planning and data analysis.
• Proven ability to prepare reports, communicate findings and work with diverse partners.
• Experience in capacity‑building and training programmes for national and sub‑national teams.
