Planning, Controlling and Reconciliation Manager – Insurance Experience

About the role

This position leads planning, controlling and reconciliation functions for an insurance business, ensuring robust budgeting, accurate financial reporting and effective risk mitigation. The manager works closely with finance, tax and operational teams to deliver high‑quality financial information and support strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing the business planning and budgeting process, including capital expenditure, budget monitoring, re‑forecasts and run‑rates.
• Ensure effective financial systems, controls and processes are in place and consistently applied.
• Prepare documentation and reports for audits and regulatory reviews.
• Coordinate development and updates of written policies and procedures for financial reporting.
• Collaborate with Reporting and Tax teams to produce timely, high‑quality financial reports.
• Monitor cash flows, interpret trends and forecast future cash requirements.
• Implement operational procedures to meet service level agreements across the finance department.
• Identify cost‑reduction opportunities and recommend process improvements.
• Conduct timely Bancassurance reconciliations, resolve discrepancies and ensure premium receipt.
• Provide accounting and reporting services for profitability assessment across multiple segments and produce statutory, regulatory and IFRS 17 financial statements.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years of experience in accounting, preferably within insurance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
• Qualified Accountant or partially qualified (ICAGH, ACCA or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of insurance accounting, NIC provisions, prudential reporting and Income Tax Act 896.
• Proven ability to work with IFRS 17 and other regulatory reporting standards.
