Procurement Officer – Purchasing & Supply Management

About the role

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Officer will coordinate all local purchases and manage the processing of Local Purchase Orders (LPO) in line with company policies. The role ensures that raw materials and other supplies are sourced efficiently to support production and store operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase requisitions from stores or user departments and solicit quotations or pro‑forma invoices for local materials.
• Negotiate with suppliers to achieve price reductions and prepare bid analyses with cost‑saving worksheets.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders, confirm supplier acceptance, and monitor delivery schedules.
• Coordinate with the Stores department to maintain optimal stock levels and verify correct deliveries.
• Liaise with the Accounts department to ensure timely supplier payments.
• Provide weekly delivery updates to the Procurement Manager and compile monthly activity reports.

Required profile

• Minimum HND/Degree in Purchasing and Supply, Supply Chain Management, Procurement or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant procurement experience.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work extra hours when required and a commitment to safety.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, preferably SAP.
