Production Manager

About the role

Complete Farmer, an agri-tech and agri-supply chain company connecting global food buyers with African farmers, is hiring a Production Manager. The role reports to the Supply Chain Director and oversees the end-to-end production lifecycle across agricultural and processing operations, ensuring targets are met efficiently, safely and within budget while keeping quality and traceability standards high.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement production plans and schedules aligned with commercial forecasts, buyer requirements and seasonal cycles.
• Oversee production from field harvesting and processing to packaging and dispatch, keeping downtime low.
• Monitor key metrics such as yield, throughput, waste reduction and cost per unit to drive continuous improvement.
• Manage allocation of labour, equipment and raw materials.
• Ensure compliance with internal SOPs, safety protocols and standards such as Global G.A.P. and HACCP.
• Work with the Quality Assurance team so output meets Gold Standard specifications and buyer requirements.
• Plan preventive maintenance and equipment calibration, and champion lean manufacturing and process improvement.
• Oversee inventory management of raw materials and finished goods, and supervise, mentor and develop production supervisors and team leads.
• Promote a safety-first culture and compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.

Required profile

• At least 5 years of experience in production management, operations management or a similar leadership role, preferably in agriculture, FMCG or food processing.
• Experience developing operational SOPs, managing budgets and driving performance improvement.
• Strong knowledge of production planning, lean methodologies and supply chain integration.
• Strategic, analytical and highly organised, able to manage multiple production lines and competing priorities.

Required skills

• Data analysis and reporting tools for production monitoring and decision-making.
• Exposure to IoT-based agricultural systems, digital monitoring tools or ERP systems is an added advantage.
