Project Engineer – Mining Operations

About the role

Newmont is seeking a Project Engineer to support underground development and infrastructure projects at its Ahafo South gold mine in Ghana. The role involves on‑site engineering inspections, data collection, and analysis to ensure projects align with technical standards and objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed on‑site engineering inspections, collect data, and analyse issues to support project decisions.
• Coordinate engineering work packages for underground development, covering ventilation, dewatering, water services, electrical distribution, controls, communications, compressed air and other mine services.
• Review project drawings, specifications and design criteria for compliance with scope, operating requirements, Newmont standards and regulatory requirements.
• Perform regular underground and surface field inspections to verify safety, quality, progress and conformance with IFC drawings, specifications, permits and work methods.
• Support project quality management by reviewing Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), witnessing inspections, recording deficiencies and tracking corrective actions.
• Monitor contractor technical performance, verify field quantities and progress, identify deviations and provide inputs for progress claims and performance reviews.
• Provide timely technical inputs to project controls, including verified progress and forecast requirements.
